Tonight Kim and I returned to the Magic Kingdom to take full advantage of our tickets on our final day.
After a grueling day at Animal Kingdom we were looking to maximize our time so we headed for Tom Sawyer Island finding it closed :( While there, we headed to Thunder Mountain to get fast passes for later. Then we headed back to Main Street USA for food.
Kim and I sat down at Casey’s and had hot dogs, fries, and Crackerjacks. Mmm.
After dinner we went over to Snow White’s Scary Adventures because the line was super short. There’s a good reason why — it blows. I told Aaron via AIM that when I think Snow White, I think scary. Actually, what I think about is whether she is wearing panties under her dress.
Anyway, because that was so fast we ended up at Tomorrow Land’s “Indy Speedway” which had a less than 30 min wait. We were killing time until we could get another fast pass (for Space Mountain) and when our pass for Thunder Mountain started.
After the dumb Indy “race” we got our tickets for Space Mountain and then headed for Thunder Mountain ownage.
When we got to Thunder Mountain it appeared as if it had broken down and just reopened as both the fast pass and the regular lanes were moving at the same pace. Our lanes eventually won out at the end but it wasn’t really worth using the pass at this point but oh well.
While the Yeti ride over in the Animal Kingdom is still the best thrill, this is the best overall, especially in the dark.
After Thunder Mountain we nabbed me a Dole Whip and waited for the Jungle Boat tour. The tour guide for that ride really made it rock. I highly doubt she was following their usual script and made it really funny. Lots of stupid jokes about the ride, Disney, etc. Fun times.
After the Boat tour we waited around for the start of the parade of lights with Mickey Mouse. I have never watched this live and I know Kim was interested so I figured it would be ok ;) It was certainly bright but not something I can say I ever need to see again — well the Mermaid was hot so maybe nothing other than her heh. There is something to be said about a lot of Disney’s shit and how intertwined with LSD it has to be — this fucking parade is an acidfiend’s first stop on a tour of madness ;)
Dancing Hippos, Ostriches, Butterfly people, and flying winged creatures sliding along effortlessly while being illuminated and blowing smoke. Crazy shit man ;)
After the parade finished up we used the bathroom and scoured the central area for a primo fireworks viewing location. We settled for a spot with a fence behind us that we could lean against for the 20 minutes until the show started. We’ll have to stand during the show because of the hoards of people but for now my legs and back are getting much needed rest.
After the fireworks we’re heading directly for Space Mountain as our fast pass tickets come due starting at 945 pm. I keep remembering the 3:45am wake up and dreading it more and more ;)
The fireworks show opened with Tinkerbell flying down a cable suspended from one of the towers of the castle and ended with a shorter finale than they had on Thanksgiving but still nice none-the-less.
We ran over to Space Mountain to use our pass only to find out it was not yet 945. The fireworks took less time than I expected and I didn’t think to look at my hiptop to check the time. Oops.
Kim and I spent some time looking in the shops in Tomorrowland and then took a seat on a bench for a while before heading back to do our thing. I’m hating Fastpass again ;)
While we were waiting we decided to kill time with the Tomorrowland Transit Authority train (Blue Line) which had virtually no wait. It killed the appropriate amount of time and as soon as we stepped off we were back walking to Space Mountain to get in the Fast Pass lane.
Unfortunately, for the first time, we found ourselves waiting in a line with the Fast Pass. Boo. It wasn’t nearly as long as the 60 min standby line but still…. Can’t win em all I suppose :)
After we got close, the ride broke down and the entire inside was lit up. I couldn’t see anything going on from where we were located but it still was neat seeing it. After quite some time the ride was fully operational again and we were on our way to our ownage.
The ride seemed lame compared to the Yeti this morning but was still fun. Afterwards we headed for Main Street to get me a sweatshirt and then head home.
Another great day in the parks and unfortunately our last one for many years :( I decided we need to do the FL thing more often ;)
See all the pictures from tonight here (mobile). Camera photos came out like shit, as expected, but I do have several movies of the fireworks show that I will put up on GooTube and link from here.
