Had a report from a cacher doing one of my oldest caches (Ruudee, Ruudee, Ruudee) that he found some dope growing near the first stage. The temps have been brutal so I hadn’t had a chance to get over there and check it out.
With temps in the low 80s this afternoon, I threw on a pair of jeans and waded through the neck high fields of various weeds and located 50+ dope plants growing. Most were worthless and the rest were full of seeds. Nothing that anyone should be harvesting for money or personal use, but because of the possible dangers of misfits protecting their “crop” or just wanting to take it for themselves, I decided it was best to archive the cache and call the authorities.
I contacted both the parks and recreation department (closed at 3:30) and the Burnsville Police Department who will send out an officer to check it out. They refused my offer to wait for them and show them where it is and to give them coordinates to the majority of the plants. I assume that this is why they burn the brush every fall as this stuff could be all over out here with all the seeds and wind.
Update: August 9th, 2005:
Was contacted by the Burnsville Parks and Rec. department from the field. They wanted specific directions to the plants as they didn’t find them on their first run. Haven’t heard back from them since. I assume they have removed the plants and/or plan to burn the remaining ones out.

Received some hits from a story on another site which linked back to here. After correcting them on the issue they asked that I temporarily remove the link to their site until they are “out of beta”. I complied. Good luck w/the new site.
