Last night Kim and I swung by the Lakeville Cub (same one where El Patio resides) after Kim missed CR-46’s exit on 35… Cub was having a deal, that expired on 3/1, we wanted to take advantage of (your first pound of grapes free with no minimum) and we also wanted to pick up some more supplies for dinner next weekend with the gang.
As we pulled into the parking lot, and after I nearly screamed at Kim not to hit the speed bump at 45, we pulled into a spot which could be considered player parking (well, if it hadn’t been 11:15 PM) and got out of the car. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed something strange: a young man, dressed in what appeared to be a windbreaker, standing in the middle of one of the aisles of the parking lot, stretching. Now, I’m all about someone going for a midnight run but it was :45 minutes early and there are no houses nearby. So, as Kim hustles her way into Cub I stand, fascinated and partially intoxicated, waiting to see what this guy is going to do.
After finishing his short warm-up, he leans over, assumes a track start position and BANG he’s off running…for about 50 feet…where he makes a sharp left and runs towards a car, opens the door, starts it and drives off.
Now, last night was a little chilly (I believe it was 12F but as I said above, I might not have the most accurate memory) but it wasn’t chilly enough to require a 50 foot run before starting a cold car for your drive home.
Perhaps he ate a pound of those free grapes and decided to work them off. Who knows?

That’s pretty funny, totally something that I would have blogged about.

Steve,
While I was writing it, I thought it was more along the lines of a “Steve Eck blog post” than a “Bill Roehl rant post” ;)
